What you should know about Dental Lumineers

What are Lumineers?

Lumineers are a special kind of porcelain veneer that offer a painless way to a permanently whiter and perfectly-aligned smile. These "smile shapers" are as thin as contact lenses and can be applied to your teeth without any grinding or shaving beforehand. They create a beautiful and natural-looking smile. Lumineers can even be placed over existing crowns or bridgework without having to replace them.

Who can get Lumineers?
Almost anyone can get a Lumineer! However, we may not recommend treatment for patients who are at high risk for tooth damage. This can include people who have gum disease or clench and grind their teeth. If we find that you are not a candidate for Lumineers, don’t worry! We will be able to assess your oral health and determine the right treatments for your smile.

Do Lumineers look natural?

Yes! Dental Lumineers in Houston, TX are an ideal choice for improving the appearance of the front teeth because they are customized to match the color and shape of the existing teeth and therefore look natural. Veneers also provide strength and stability similar to that of a natural tooth.

How much do Lumineers cost?

The cost of Lumineers varies according to the complexity of the case, material chosen, and expertise of the dentist performing the procedure. Insurance policies generally consider Lumineers a cosmetic procedure and therefore may not pay for treatment. If this is the case with your insurance or if you don’t have insurance, talk to our office about payment options to make your care more affordable.

How much will it cost?

The cost of clear aligners varies based on the complexity of your case and the length of treatment. Our team will provide a detailed cost estimate and discuss financing options during your consultation.

How long do Lumineers last?

Lumineers should be cared for just like your other teeth — with daily brushing and flossing — and when properly maintained they can last anywhere from 5 to 20 years.

How long do Lumineers last?

The duration of clear aligner treatment depends on the severity of your orthodontic issues. On average, treatment can take anywhere from six months to two years. Our team will give you a personalized timeline based on your specific needs and goals.

What does getting Lumineers involve?

The treatment process for each Lumineer is fairly simple. Once your smile is assessed, an impression or mold will be taken of your teeth.

The impression will then be sent to a dental laboratory. Unlike traditional veneers, you do not need a temporary placed while you wait. Two to four weeks later, you will return for a second appointment to have your Lumineer placed.

Benefits of clear aligners

• Clear aligners are rarely noticed by others
• You can eat what you want during treatment
• The trays are smooth and comfortable to wear
• You don’t have to worry about poking wires or lip-snagging brackets
• The trays can be removed whenever you want
• Treatment is typically faster than braces

"Had a really great first experience with Dentistry of the Oaks. Had been with my last dentist for a long time so was nervous to leave, but needed to be closer to home. They made me feel very comfortable and cared for. Definitely recommend if looking for a dentist."
